Training for the Ear

As someone who is not an audio professional but would like to enhance my ability to discern and describe audio events, I have been looking for something to help with "training the ear." In the process of looking, I came across this:

http://www.kiqproductions.com/index.html

http://www.moultonlabs.com/full/product01/

It's the only product like it that I've come across, and believe I've seen it recommended somewhere, but have no actual experience with it. Has anyone here used this? The man who put it together appears to be well respected in his field, but it's be nice to know if anyone has any personal experience with the program.

Does anyone have any other recommendations for a self study program/book/etc for training your ears?

This program seems expensive but if there are no other options, I may bite the bullet.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

No alternatives?

No alternatives?

I'm actually a bit surprised that no one has experience of useful alternatives to this program.

Suppose I'll just go ahead with it.
